Would you propagate from these plants or buy liners that were propagated from them? If you would.......think again! Every year propagators and growers experience economic losses due to pathogens and pests in stock plants and liners that have a few blemishes here and there. Often plants grown under ideal conditions do not exhibit obvious symptoms until they are stressed by such factors as propagation, temporary drought, or dormancy. These plants may exhibit slow growth, unsightly lesions or death after a period of time making the nursery manager feel that he has done something wrong when the problem really stems from a diseased stock plant.
